What You Missed (01/08/09)

Our first regular communication for 2009 sent Z-Lodge off to a great start ! The Master's theme for the year (Know the Craft) was presented to the lodge, along with the events calendar for the year. There are 19 regular communications this year. Guest speakers from just about every body of this fraternity are scheduled to visit our Lodge and make presentations about their organizations. It is the Master's intent, and theme this year, that by year's end the members of our Lodge and those around us will have a better understanding of the various bodies we support.

It was announced that the Lodge education program that was spearheaded by Past Masters Poindexter and Hill, would continue this year, with an emphasis on the meanings of the words and tools that we take for granted. To demonstrate this, the Master presented the three types of gavels, commonly seen in Lodges today. Each was identified by type and purpose. The Lodge was then presented with an actual "common gavel", along with words of explanation.

Past Master Tommy Poindexter presented the newly created Senior Warden's pin to our Senior Warden, Charles Bittle, along with Past Master Stan Hill, for whom the pin was named after.

The Lodge was closed and the Brethren were dismissed to the second floor for refreshments and fellowship.
